Massachusetts Hospitals Inject $51B Into State Economy

In 2011, Massachusetts hospitals generated more than $51 billion in economic activity and employed more than 197,000 people in 2012, according to a report from the Massachusetts Hospital Association (pdf).

The report also found that hospitals in Massachusetts are the second-biggest source of private sector jobs, and they spent more than $11.4 billion on wages and benefits.
