For-Profit Hospital Stock Report: Week of Oct. 15-19, 2012

Stocks at for-profit hospital operators have taken a beating for the third consecutive week, as the seven largest on the market all lost at least 2 percent in their shares last week.


Here are the five-day stock prices and percentage changes for the week of Oct. 15 through Oct. 19, 2012.

•    Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $27.11 per share (down 5.08 percent)

•    Health Management Associates (Naples, Fla.): $7.38 per share (down 5.87 percent)

•    Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $30.05 per share (down 5.50 percent)

•    LifePoint Hospitals (Brentwood, Tenn.): $40.75 per share (down 2.21 percent)

•    Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $23.51 per share (down 2.77 percent)

•    Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $43.89 per share (down 3.43 percent)

•    Vanguard Health Systems (Nashville, Tenn.): $10.80 per share (down 7.85 percent)
