Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services received court approval Oct. 9 to buy Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., according to a Brown Daily Herald report.
Prime Healthcare signed an asset purchase agreement with Landmark Medical earlier this month after Boston-based Steward Health Care System dropped out of a pending deal.
Although Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein approved the deal, under Rhode Island's Hospital Conversion Act, both the state attorney general and the Department of Health must also approve hospital mergers, according to the report.
