CMS has approved Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's plan to run the state Medicaid program through different managed care plans, according to a news release from Louisiana's Department of Health and Hospitals.
The program, called Bayou Health, will cover Louisiana's roughly 865,000 Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program beneficiaries. Each enrollee will select one of five health plans, and those managed health networks are then responsible for coordinating that person's healthcare services, according to the release.
Bayou Health will officially go live on Feb. 1, 2012.
