Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak (Mich.) will open its new emergency center on Aug. 31, which will mark completion of the first phase of the hospital's four-phase expansion and renovation project.
The $120.8 million project, which is expected to be completed by late 2018, will add 54 new medical observation rooms to the hospital's main floor, a new helipad, four trauma care bays and an area offering care to patients with minor injuries or illnesses.
After the project is completed, the emergency center will be doubled in size with 73 private adult rooms, 20 semi-private rooms, 10 behavioral health rooms and 16 private pediatric rooms.
Other amenities at the new center include a café for patients' families, communication boards in patient rooms and cell phone charging stations.
"We wanted to provide a patient and family-centered environment with accommodations and amenities that better support the high-quality emergency care that consumers have come to expect from Beaumont," said Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak's President Rosanna Morris.
