Walla Walla, Wash.-based Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center's Cerner EHR system went live March 26, the VA reported March 28.
The EHR system intends to consolidate VA patient health data and information into a centralized platform that can be easily shared across participating VA and Department of Defense affiliates.
This implementation is a part of the VA's $16.1 billion effort, in partnership with Cerner, to modernize its EHR systems.
Mass rollouts of the Cerner EHR faced multiple setbacks that have prolonged the rollout of the new software in other VA care facilities and affiliates.
Earlier this month, the EHR system at Spokane, Wash.-based Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center and associated clinics were affected by a software glitch that forced the hospitals to stop taking patients.
U.S. Sen. Patty Murray from Washington also expressed concern about the EHR rollout at a Walla Walla medical center, demanding the VA to pause it following the release of three reports that highlighted safety concerns in Spokane.
