EHealth Exchange, a nationwide health information network that connects both public and private sectors, deployed its new single-connection gateway service that streamlines health data sharing between members.
Veterans Health Information Exchange, Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth, InterCommunity Health Network CCO and OCHIN are founding members of the new gateway service and helped support its launch.
"Their unwavering commitment to query-based connectivity to improve patient care drove us from implementation kick-off to live, bi-directional exchange using the new eHealth Exchange technology in just four months," said Jay Nakashima, eHealth Exchange executive director, according to the news release.
The eHealth Exchange used an InterSystems platform integrated with the network's fast healthcare interoperability resources directory as the foundation for the new gateway service. The hub model will make it easier for organizations to connect to each other through its "connect once" model, which can be used to reach any other member of the network, according to the report.
More than 75 percent of all U.S. hospitals as well as 61 regional and state health information exchanges are members of the eHealth Exchange.
