Epic is constructing three new buildings at its 260-acre Wisconsin headquarters that will provide office space for an additional 1,100 employees, the Verona (Wis.) Press reported.
The new facilities will be called "Sci-Fi" at the EHR vendor's Storybook campus, which will also get a third large restaurant for employees, and "Guilds" and "Creatures" at the Wizards Academy section, according to the April 6 story. Construction began recently and is set to wrap in 2024. Epic has themes at each of its buildings, to go with such amenities as a treehouse, slide and small farm.
Rather than cubicles, the company uses offices, collaborative areas and other distraction-free workspaces, the newspaper reported. Epic has a cozy, fun environment to make employees feel like they're "coming home to work," technical recruiter Nicole Hilsenhoff told the Press. The buildings top out at three stories, to maximize face time among staffers.
Epic has about 11,600 employees at the Verona campus, with plans to add another 1,700. They will include software developers and project managers, as well as people to work in administration, facilities and culinary, according to the story.
