Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health will continue using a precision medicine tool integrated into its Epic EHR for several more years.
The health system, which adopted ActX's genomic decision support tool in 2019, is extending the partnership until 2028. Baptist Health compared claims data from 2020 to 2021 among employees who used the technology, finding fewer claims and a cost savings of $428 per month per study patient.
"Over the past several years ActX has helped Baptist Health make the best therapeutic choices for many patients by personalizing their medical care with genetics," said Brett Oliver, MD, chief medical information officer at Baptist Health, in an April 13 news release. "With the extension of the Baptist Health-ActX partnership, we will be able to further expand this important initiative, increasing our capabilities by enabling precision medicine for many more individuals."
In 2023, the health system began covering pharmacogenetic testing for all employees and dependents enrolled in its health plan.
