Apple extends iPhone health records access to Allina Health

Patients at Minneapolis-based Allina Health can now access their medical information through Apple's iPhone health records app.

Apple based its health records app on fast healthcare interoperability resources guidelines, a standard for transferring electronic medical records. Under the new partnership, Allina Health patients will be able to access their medical records from the health system as well as participating Apple health records organizations. Through the app, patients can view personal information such as immunizations, lab results and medication.

"Health records on iPhone gives patients one more way to interact with their health information, by [bringing] together their medical records from multiple healthcare providers into one place," Allina Health Director of Digital Experience Chris DuFresne said in a news release emailed to Becker's Hospital Review. "We want patients to be able to control and easily access their own data and viewing their Allina Health account data on health records is a step in that direction."

More than 100 hospitals and clinics have joined Apple's health records project since it launched in January 2018.
