Tesla CEO Elon Musk said a humanoid AI robot was the most important product his company hopes to develop this year, CNBC reported Jan. 27.
The Tesla Bot, code-named Optimus, was praised by Mr. Musk during Tesla's fourth-quarter earnings call.
"I think it has the potential to be more significant than the vehicle business over time," Mr. Musk said.
The Tesla Bot was first teased in August during Tesla's "AI Day," but a human in a robot suit was used to demonstrate the idea.
The bot is designed for tasks that are boring, harmful or repetitive and will have the potential to revolutionize the economy, Mr. Musk said, according to CNBC.
