Optum Health promoted Caitlin Zulla to CEO of the company's east region.
Ms. Zulla previously spent more than three years as CEO of SCA Health, a surgery center chain owned by Optum. The company grew to more than 320 surgical facilities during Ms. Zulla's tenure, and she led its expansion into a national specialty care provider business. SCA Health now provides services to support independent physicians through the value-based care transition.
In her new role as CEO of Optum Health's east region, she will be responsible for primary, specialty, surgical and home-based care, and behavioral health services. Ms. Zulla will also oversee the virtual, urgent and community care initiatives for her region, which encompasses the Northeast quadrant of the U.S.
"I am humbled and honored to serve as chief executive officer of the newly formed Optum Health East region, made up of states from Maine down to Delaware and out west through Indiana," Ms. Zulla said in a LinkedIn post. She later added, "I've seen firsthand the impact that our over 100,000 aligned clinical practitioners are making in the communities we serve - helping people live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone."
Ms. Zulla will be succeeded by Jason Strauss, who was promoted from president to CEO of SCA health.
