Rajesh Jha, executive vice president in charge of Microsoft Office and Windows, told employees to be more cautious when it comes to opening up new roles, CNBC reported May 26.
On May 26, Mr. Jha told employees in his group to request permission from his leadership team before opening up new roles, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC.
"As Microsoft gets ready for the new fiscal year, it is making sure the right resources are aligned to the right opportunity," a Microsoft spokesperson said in the report. "Microsoft will continue to grow headcount in the year ahead and it will add additional focus to where those resources go."
The move comes after CEO Satya Nadella made the announcement to double its global budget for merit-based salary increases and boost stock compensation by 25 percent for its employees.
