Elon Musk has launched a new artificial intelligence company that could compete with ChatGPT developer OpenAI, The Wall Street Journal reported.
He filed documents in Nevada to create X.AI Corp., according to the April 14 story. He didn't respond to the newspaper's request for comment.
Mr. Musk has discussed creating an "everything app" called X and recently changed the name of Twitter, which he owns, to X Corp., the news outlet reported.
The billionaire has been looking to hire AI experts to create a rival to OpenAI, which he co-founded in 2015 but left three years later, according to the story. For instance, he recently recruited a scientist from Alphabet AI lab DeepMind but hasn't had a lot of success in his outreach to OpenAI employees.
