Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company's $3.9 billion acquisition of One Medical will "change what primary care will look like for customers."
In an April 13 letter to shareholders, Mr. Jassy said Amazon identified One Medical as a great partner because of its patient-focused experience.
One Medical, which has more than 200 brick-and-mortar physicians offices, along with roughly 815,000 members, offers in-person and virtual care services, something Amazon said brought potential to continue to build its foundation for its future healthcare businesses.
"Going forward, we strongly believe that One Medical and Amazon will continue to innovate together to change what primary care will look like for customers," Mr. Jassy wrote.
On April 4, Nworah Ayogu, MD, general manager and chief medical officer of Amazon Clinic, told CNBC that the partnership between One Medical and Amazon is still in its early stages, but that the aim will be to help consumers more easily afford and access healthcare.
