6 recent healthcare moves from CVS

CVS Health has been making moves to further its ambitions of becoming a healthcare destination; most notably, it closed its $8 billion acquisition of Signify Health giving the company access to more than 10,000 clinicians.

Here are six healthcare moves CVS has made since March 13:

  1. CVS Health expects to close its $10.6 billion acquisition of Oak Street Health by the end of June.

  2. CVS Health President and CEO Karen Lynch said the company's $8 billion acquistion of Signify Health will advance its value-based care strategy, as well as help CVS redefine how care is received.

  3. On March 29, CVS Health completed its $8 billion acquisition of Signify Health, adding more than 10,000 clinicians to its network.

  4. CVS Health committed to strengthening its reproductive health data privacy protections following a shareholder proposal from the activist investment group.

  5. CVS Health is testing a way for patients to access all their electronic medical records using a single sign-in.

  6. CVS Health and Cleveland Clinic were among the first entities to adopt Avaneer Health's new data sharing and healthcare administration platform. The platform is designed to reduce data fragmentation and streamline healthcare administration operations. 

Jan. 9

  1. CVS was predicted to be the top acquirer of healthcare companies in 2023, according to a survey of 90 health tech experts by Health Tech Nerds.

  2. CVS Health Ventures and Intermountain Ventures, the venture capital arm of Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare, joined a $90 million series E funding round for virtual care provider Maven Clinic.

  3. CVS Health has partnered with digital health company Ixlayer to offer at-home testing kits at its stores and online for sexually transmitted diseases, vitamin D deficiencies, thyroid disorders and Lyme disease.

  4. CVS Health CEO Karen Lynch said the company wants to make a greater push into primary care and expects to announce an acquisition within the year.
