The Los Angeles-based University of Southern California will begin offering a health innovation minor in the spring 2020 semester, campus newspaper the Daily Trojan reports.
The minor will be offered by USC's Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, and the Keck School of Medicine's Medicine, Engineering, Science and Humanities Academy. The program will reportedly combine courses in both business and medicine, with a curriculum designed by faculty and researchers from both academies.
"The abilities and knowledge gained from the minor could, for example, be applied toward the development of new technologies, new methods or systems for managing health-related data and information, medical startups or driving new ideas or policies relating to human health," Karine Kim, communications manager for the Iovine and Young Academy, said in a statement to the Daily Trojan.
