Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health is expanding its virtual care options at its Parkview Digital Care Center.
New to the digital care center is Parkview's 24/7 remote clinical support for all of Parkview's nurses. The virtual care team of experienced nurses aims to shorten hospital stays, improve patient outcomes and reduce the instance of sepsis, according to an Oct. 18 Parkview news release.
In the future, Parkview plans to expand the virtual care options by connecting patients with nurses via the television in their rooms.
"The Virtual Care department serves as yet another example of how Parkview is committed to enhancing the patient experience and care environments while controlling the costs associated with care," Parkview Chief Nursing Informatics Officer Michelle Charles, MSN, RN, said. "The addition of virtual nurses and virtual care technicians allows our bedside staff to focus more exclusively on each patient's needs. This team will maximize our resources and effectively monitor multiple inpatients to address their needs more quickly."
