Former Cleveland Clinic, Google exec joins AI startup

A former Cleveland Clinic executive has joined clinical artificial intelligence startup Ambience Healthcare as chief medical officer.

William Morris, MD, worked for Cleveland Clinic for more than 15 years, including as chief innovation officer of Cleveland Clinic Innovations and associate CIO. A practicing internist, he most recently served as chief medical information officer at Google Cloud.

"After connecting with a variety of peers in the industry who were implementing ambient AI technology and had direct experience with the major players, I came to the conclusion that Ambience was going to be the leader," Dr. Morris said in a Nov. 11 statement.

Ambience's health system clients include Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System, San Francisco-based UCSF Health, Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke's Health System, and Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health.
