Digital front door spending hits record high of $1.9B in '21

Digital front door technology funding reached a record high of $1.9 billion in 2021, up 67 percent year-over-year as patients, providers and investors see increased opportunity in a hybrid health model, according to a May 2 report by tech market analytics firm CB Insights.

Technology funding for self-scheduling, virtual check-ins and screenings, patient access to records and data, virtual care options, and patient-provider messaging are skyrocketing as these digital front doors have become the largest determining factors in a patient's choice of provider, according to survey company Press Ganey.

In 2021, digital front door technology funding reached $1.9 billion. That figure is expected to grow more than 32 percent for 2022, surpassing $2.5 billion by the end of the year.
