Richmond Harman, former CEO of Martin Health System in Stuart, Fla., received the largest compensation package — $5.63 million — of any non-profit executive in the Palm Beach County area of Florida in 2009, according to a Palm Beach Post report.
Mr. Harman retired in 2009, and much of the compensation package included deferred retirement benefits, according to the report. Mark Robitaille, current CEO of Martin Health, had a salary of $1.1 million in 2009, but his pay fell below seven figures in 2010.
Two Martin Medical Center neurosurgeons — John Robinson, MD, and John Afshar, MD — have consistently earned more than $1 million as well. Martin Health CMO Howard Robbins, MD, also received roughly $1.2 million in 2009.
