CEO-to-worker pay ratios at 30 major healthcare companies

The Wall Street Journal analyzed data for 278 companies in the S&P 500 index, finding compensation for the median worker ticked higher in 2022 than the year before as the median pay package for CEOs slightly declined.  

In 2022, the median S&P 500 employee earned $77,178 and the median CEO pay ratio stood at 186:1. The CEO pay ratio is calculated by dividing the CEO's annual compensation as reported in SEC filings by the median employee's pay. 

The CEO-to-pay ratio at 21 of the 30 healthcare companies listed below exceeds the 2022 median. All companies in the healthcare equipment and services industry featured in The Wall Street Journal's analysis of data collected by MyLogIQ are ranked below by median pay. 

Align Technology, a global medical device company known for its Invisalign teeth straighteners, saw the widest CEO-to-worker pay ratio in 2022 (1,026:1) while DaVita's pay ratio was smallest (45:1).
