The annual mean wage for anesthesiologists in the U.S. is roughly $269,600. However, anesthesiologists in some states surpass the figure by almost $18,000, according to 2016 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Anesthesiologists in Kansas topped off at $287,410, the highest annual mean salary for anesthesia specialists in the U.S., followed by anesthesiologists in North Dakota ($285,290 per year) and Iowa ($283,990 per year). BLS calculated annual wages by multiplying the hourly mean wage by 2,080 hours.
The BLS was not able to gather data for several states, including Alabama, Alaska, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, West Virginia, Delaware and Rhode Island.
