Several hospital executives and physicians at the three main Akron, Ohio-area hospitals earned seven-figure compensation packages in 2010, and Akron Children's Hospital President and CEO William Considine was the highest-paid executive with more than $1.5 million in compensation and benefits, according to an Akron Beacon Journal report.
Thomas Strauss, president and CEO of Summa Health System, made more than $1.4 million, according to the report. Akron General Health System underwent a change in CEOs last year. Vincent McCorkle, who became Akron General's president and CEO on July 1, 2010, received more than $568,000 in total compensation. Michael Rindler, a consultant who filled in as the interim CEO after Alan Bleyer retired in 2009, made more than $983,744.
