Cisco’s Webex is one of the most widely used collaboration technologies by organizations across the world to improve connectivity, productivity, and efficiency.
As the healthcare industry moves into the new era of virtual care, Webex is developing purpose-built solutions to power various care delivery models in healthcare.
After announcing Webex integration with Epic earlier this year, Cisco launched Webex Instant Connect on August 3rd, 2021.
Webex Instant Connect combines all the best capabilities of Webex to power diverse healthcare collaboration needs. It allows for seamless integration with various health IT systems used by organizations, enabling a richer collaboration experience for care teams and healthcare consumers. These integrations into clinician workflows help time-strapped physicians who often juggle between multiple technology platforms.
Upon scheduling virtual care appointments, physicians can also launch virtual consultations and chat with patients and providers. For instance, clinicians can host conversations with fellow providers to gain insights from specialists when consulting on complex conditions related to patient care. Moreover, the platform allows for the flexibility to launch virtual visits from within care provider workflows or as a stand-alone application in a browser that has access to a camera and microphone.
“Webex Instant Connect platform is powering Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital to make telemental consultation sessions as effective as in-person interactions” said Kedar Ganta, Webex Global Director for Growth Verticals. “London Health Sciences Center has successfully integrated Webex Instant Connect into their workflows.”
As to the ease-of-use, the solution is aptly designed for the new age digital consumers who shy away from App downloads or multiple logins. With browser based WebRTC technology, the solution does not require browser plugins or force application downloads to facilitate multi-party virtual consultations. During virtual video visits, participants can share screens to review images, charts and other clinical documents to facilitate better care conversations in a secure setting. The telehealth workflows are enhanced further with the provider getting notified after a patient enters the virtual waiting room. By using Webex Control Hub, administrators can use a single-pane-of-glass to manage user adoption and get insights about the quality of telehealth calls.
Webex Instant Connect is secure by design and respects patients’ right to privacy by not storing protected health data. Patients are able to launch virtual visits without logging in or sharing personal information in a HIPAA compliant way. Furthermore, Webex Instant Connect provides privacy and security around encryption of all communication including securely sharing images or clinical documentation.
Healthcare organizations are increasingly deploying new care models as they flex between virtual and physical points of care. Webex Instant Connect platform can provide speed, agility and resilience for healthcare organizations to power these virtual care models. As healthcare delivery needs evolve Webex Instant Connect is well positioned to act as the bridge between in-person and virtual care, increasing access to care and enhancing healthcare outcomes.
