Whole Foods considers adding health retreats and clinics

Whole Foods Co-CEO John Mackey told Bloomberg Business he is considering expanding Whole Foods beyond groceries to offer a weekend health retreat and medical clinic.

The clinic idea was inspired by Orlando, Fla.-based Rosen Hotels & Resorts' onsite employer healthcare facility.

The weekend health retreat would extend Whole Food's existing Total Health Immersion program to customers. The retreat would be a shorter version of the weeklong program, which offers medical testing, meetings with nutritionists and cooking classes, according to the report.

Mr. Mackey told Bloomberg he is looking for property in Austin, Texas, to pilot the program. However, a PR representative noted all of Mr. Mackey’s ideas are still in the brainstorming stages.
