Vanderbilt pediatric cardiology chief stepping down

Scott Baldwin, MD, will step down as chief of the division of pediatric cardiology and co-director of the Pediatric Heart Institute at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University.

Having served in the role since 2004, Dr. Baldwin will step down in late spring or early summer in 2025. He will also retire from his faculty role in June 2026, according to a Dec. 18 news release from Vanderbilt.

During his time at Vanderbilt, Dr. Baldwin helped launch and lead the Pediatric Heart Institute with David Bichell, MD, who stepped down from serving as chief of pediatric cardiac surgery in October, the release said.

Dr. Baldwin's successor will be identified through a national search.
