AHA updates ambulatory blood pressure guidance

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring classifications and regulations for children and adolescents have been simplified in new guidance from the American Heart Association.

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is used to confirm whether a child or adolescent with high blood pressure during a clinic measurement "truly has hypertension." The scientific statement, published May 23 in Hypertension, aims to guide clinicians on when the monitoring is appropriate and how to interpret results.
