ACC rolls out remote patient management guidance

The American College of Cardiology has published guidance for cardiologists regarding remote patient management.

The "Remote Patient Management Workbook" aims to provide cardiologists with information on the "optimal use of direct-to-consumer devices as a care tool," according to a July 31 news release from the ACC.

"The ACC has brought together digital health clinician experts to produce this workbook with detailed protocols, best practices and practical insights to help clinicians use these ever-changing complex technologies," Tony Das, MD, chair of the ACC "Remote Patient Management Workbook" writing group, said in the release.

The workbook also has guidance on how to set up a remote patient management program as well as insights that can help providers decide if their practice is ready for remote patient management.

The ACC defines remote patient management as any data "collected away from a clinic or hospital," according to the release.
