- Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest School of Medicine received a $30 million, five-year federal grant to study cardiac rehabilitation for patients with heart failure.
- The American Heart Association's Social Impact Funds reached $32 million in donations to help fund health disparities research.
- Grand Rapids, Mich.-based BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan received a $8.8 million grant to improve and expand robotic-assisted coronary procedures in rural areas.
- Evanston, Ill.-based Northwestern University and Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University were awarded $37 million for the first-ever national grant to study wearables in atrial fibrillation treatment.
- The National Institutes of Health awarded a $11.2 million, five-year grant to Jianyi Zhang, MD, PhD, to study how to restore dead tissue from a heart attack.
