Richmond, Va.-based Sheltering Arms Institute, a rehab hospital partly owned by VCU Health, plans to add 30 beds, Richmond BizSense reported April 10.
The $95 million hospital treats patients recovering from conditions such as stroke, brain injuries and other neurological disorders and diseases. The new addition — if approved by the state health department — would bring the hospital's total bed capacity to 144.
Sheltering Arms Institute President and CEO Dianne Jewell, PhD, said the hospital is planning to file for a certificate of need application by early May.
VCU Health is also based in Richmond.
