Piedmont Columbus (Ga.) Regional has announced plans to renovate a former hospital location into a freestanding children's hospital.
Renovations on the structure will begin this August, with plans to open the 30-bed children's hospital in fall of 2024. Piedmont Columbus Regional is looking to raise $20 million in charitable donations for the project and has already received a substantial donation from the Bettye and Cecil Cheves family, according to a March 23 Piedmont news release.
The five-floor facility will feature a pediatric inpatient unit and isolation and behavioral units.
