Partners HealthCare plans $400M expansion

Boston-based Partners HealthCare will invest $400 million to open four outpatient surgery centers in the suburbs, according to The Boston Globe

Partners plans to build new locations in Woburn, Westborough and Salem, Mass. It will also expand an existing site in Westwood, Mass.

The clinics, slated to open in 2022, will offer primary care, specialty care, mental health services and surgical services.

Partners said it expects to hire 700 workers to staff the facilities.

"We just need to make it easier for patients to come get our services — which is part of our overall strategy," John Fernandez, president of Partners Ambulatory Care, told The Globe.

In recent weeks, Partners announced a new focus on digital health and a massive rebranding effort. Including the expansion, Partners said will spend at least half a billion dollars on these initiatives.
