Southport, N.C.-based Dosher Memorial Hospital has begun its seven-year expansion and improvement plan.
The first phase of the plan will take three years to complete and includes a new 8,000-square-foot emergency department complex. The expansion will help support the healthcare needs of the growing community, according to an April 26 Dosher Memorial news release.
"The new emergency department will increase the current treatment spaces from 10 to 14 and will also include the addition of six to eight vertical care chairs to streamline wait times and care for patients of lower acuity," the news release said. "The new ED space will include its own X-Ray, lab draw station, and registration desk. The old ED will be converted to clinic space for medical providers."
