Maine Gov. Janet Mills announced $25 million in new financing for Maine hospitals to help address COVID-19-related financial challenges.
This week's payment brings Maine's total COVID-19-era payments to hospitals to more than $100 million. The cash infusions are used to support workforce recruitment and retention, according to a June 28 state of Maine news release.
"This increase in funding comes at a critical time as we continue to address the workforce shortages the pandemic left in its wake," President of the Maine Hospital Association Steve Michaud said.
