Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger purchased 22 acres of land in Lycoming County, Pa., where it plans to construct an acute care medical facility, according to Penn Live.
The planned hospital will house an emergency department, operating suites, patient rooms and diagnostic units.
Geisinger, which purchased the land for $1.9 million, is working with design firms to create a blueprint of the facility.
The 22-acre site is a short distance away from UPMC Susquehanna's Muncy (Pa.) Valley Hospital. A UPMC spokesperson told Penn Live they were unaware of Geisinger's plan so they could not comment.
