Encompass Health plans new rehab hospital in Pennsylvania

Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health plans to open a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Norristown, Pa.

The 50-bed facility will have private patient rooms, a therapy gym, a pharmacy and a therapy courtyard, according to an Aug. 26 news release from the health system. The hospital will offer 24-hour nursing care for patients recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, amputations and other debilitating injuries.

"We are excited to expand and grow our rehabilitation services in Southeast Pennsylvania," Pat Tuer, president of Encompass Health's Northeast region, said in the release. "We remain committed to making a difference in the communities we serve by improving access to high-quality, individualized rehabilitative care, and this new hospital will allow even more residents to receive specialized care close to home."

Encompass Health currently has nine rehab hospitals in Pennsylvania.
