Twitter CEO pushes for Bitcoin to become internet standard currency

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square, told attendees at the Consensus conference May 16 that he hopes the internet adopts Bitcoin as its standard currency, according to Fortune.

Mr. Dorsey said he is sure the "internet is going to have a native currency," that every person and company across the world can use to facilitate online transactions, according to Fortune. Such a move would take a significant amount of time, but Bitcoin is best positioned to become the standard currency due to its prominence among cryptocurrencies.

"Let's not wait for it to happen, let's help it happen," said Mr. Dorsey, according to Fortune.
