Steve Allen, MD. CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital (Columbus, Ohio). Serving as CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital since 2006, Dr. Allen oversees more than 1,100 medical staff members and a hospital staff of 8,000, as well as the hospital's Research Institute, Hospital Foundation and The Center for Family Safety and Healing. He also serves on the board of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions and is a member of Child Health Corporation of America. Prior to taking the helm at Nationwide Children's, he served as CMO of Memorial Hermann Hospital and Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital in Houston. Dr. Allen was formerly a professor in the department of anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and now teaches in the anesthesiology department at Columbus-based the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is board-certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine and has published almost 100 articles and more than 20 book chapters on a variety of medical topics.
