Patrick Cawley, MD. CEO of MUSC Health and Vice President for Health Affairs of the Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston). Dr. Cawley held various positions at MUSC Medical Center, including vice president for clinical operations and CMO, before becoming CEO. As CMO, he worked toward improving the hospital's quality and safety. In 2012, the University HealthSystem Consortium recognized his efforts by awarding MUSC with the Rising Star honor. The honor recognizes significant improvements in ranking in UHC's annual Quality and Accountability Study, which identifies exemplary performance in patient safety, mortality, clinical effectiveness and equity of care. Dr. Cawley is a board-certified internist who was named a Master in Hospital Medicine by the Society of Hospital Medicine. He is a fellow in the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Dr. Cawley is certified through the American College of Physician Executives.
