Surgeons in Cleveland Clinic's orthopedic surgery department perform more than 7,000 hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, wrist and finger joint replacements per year. In addition to diagnosis and treatment, the academic medical center is also active in research and education, and many techniques and technologies developed by Cleveland Clinic orthopedic specialists are now used around the world. Some of those advancements include improved fracture-healing techniques, building better artificial joints and improving orthotics for diabetic foot problems, among others.
