In 2016, Vanderbilt University Medical Center surgeons performed more than 75 heart transplants, making it the second busiest heart transplant program in the country. U.S. News & World Report named Vanderbilt University Medical Center among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in 2017-18.
