St. Francis Hospital (Roslyn, N.Y.). Founded in 1922, St. Francis Hospital is the only specialty-designated cardiac center in New York. The hospital's DeMatteis Center for Cardiac Research and Education fosters collaboration between physicians and investigators to improve methods of diagnosing heart disease. Over the past decade, physicians have performed more than 14,000 open heart surgeries, including over 1,300 in 2016. U.S. News & World Report ranked St. Francis Hospital among the top 50 hospitals in the country for adult cardiology and heart surgery in 2017-18, and CareChex ranked the hospital No. 3 in New York for cardiac surgery.
