In 2016, the American Heart Association honored Mount Sinai Medical Center with the Mission Lifeline: Silver Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing quality improvement initiatives when treating severe heart attack patients. The hospital reports restoring blood flow for heart attack patients within 90 minutes from the moment the ambulance picks up the patient and within 60 minutes of arriving at the hospital; the national average is 120 minutes from ambulance pick up and 90 minutes upon hospital arrival. Among its many accomplishments, the 672-bed Mount Sinai Medical Center was ranked No. 1 in Florida for cardiac surgery quality by CareChex in 2017.
