Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's cardiac care team comprises more than 125 experts, including pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and critical care intensivists. The surgical team performs more than 850 pediatric heart surgeries per year and report a 95.2 percent survival rate for open heart/cardiopulmonary bypass surgery from 2012 to 2015. The hospital's Cardiac Center teamed with C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., to follow long-term outcomes for 2,000 heart surgery patients between the two hospitals. The partners hope their collaboration will result in a better understanding of how to optimize pediatric heart patient care and their quality of life. CHOP earned the No. 9 spot on U.S. News & World Report's list of the best hospitals for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery for 2017-18.
