Brigham and Women's Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center integrates all heart and vascular services into one center of excellence staffed by 225 physicians, 475 nurse specialists and more than 300 clinical and research fellows. Brigham and Women's records more than 50,000 heart and vascular-related patient visits each year, and in the 30 years from 1984 to 2014, surgeons performed 663 heart transplants at the hospital, making Brigham and Women's one of the highest volume heart transplant hospitals in New England. U.S. News & World Report acknowledged the hospital's heart services with a No. 12 ranking in the nation for adult cardiology and heart surgery in 2017.
