Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. The Heart Center at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is the largest children's heart center in the region, treating more than 10,000 pediatric outpatients and 300 inpatients annually. Lurie Children's surgeons perform an average of 450 heart surgeries, including 15 heart transplants, each year. Despite the complexity of heart transplants, Lurie Children's maintains a 90 percent three-year survival rate, well above the 83 percent national average. In 2017, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 3 in the nation for pediatric cardiac care, and in 2016 the Society of Thoracic Surgeons awarded the hospital three stars for congenital heart surgery, the highest level awarded.
