Boston Children's Hospital. U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Heart Center at Boston Children's Hospital as the No. 1 children's hospital in the country for cardiology and heart surgery ever since it started ranking pediatric hospitals by specialty. The heart team includes eight surgeons, 74 cardiologists, 15 anesthesiologists and 350 nurses. Additionally, the heart transplant program at Boston Children's is among the largest in the country, with surgeons performing more than 260 transplants since the program's inception in 1986. In 2001, Boston Children's surgeons performed the world's first successful in utero treatment of hypoplastic left heart syndrome in a 19-week-old fetus.
