Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City (Mo.). With a team of four neurosurgeons, Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute covers the full spectrum of neurological procedures. A $12 million grant from the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation established the neuroscience department, which has grown to include treatment for behavioral neurology, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. The department currently has 140 patients enrolled in 43 new and continuing clinical research trials focused on brain tumors, Alzheimer's and stroke intervention, among other services. The hospital's research team also partners with GE's Healthymagination initiative and has submitted stroke data for Oxford Analytica's analysis; as a result of the superior outcomes, GE named Saint Luke's the first Healthymagination Stroke Solution Site in the world. U.S. News & World Report named the hospital among the top 50 institutions in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery in 2017-18. Saint Luke's also touts a premier spine program where surgeons perform cutting edge minimally invasive spine procedures in addition to treating complex spinal disorders. The hospital earned Blue Cross Blue Shield Association's Blue Distinction Center+ designation for spine care.
