Houston Methodist Hospital. In 2016, Houston Methodist Hospital's 19 spine and neurosurgeons completed 3,965 cases, nearing capacity for its current facilities. As a result, the hospital will open the Walter Tower in 2018, which is expected to include two neuro-operative rooms with an intraoperative MRI and an updated robotic system for brain resections. The hospital is committed to remaining on the forefront of spine and neurological care, and its specialists have engaged in extensive research trials throughout the years. In 2016, Houston Methodist Hospital received $4 million in spine and neurosurgery-focused research funding. U.S. News & World Report ranked Houston Methodist Hospital No. 18 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery for 2017-18 and CareChex named it No. 3 in Texas for neurological surgery in 2018.
